Climbing stairs is inevitable. The house is not easily accessible by public transport. A car is strongly recommended.
The house is located in the middle of the beautiful nature of the Zuid-Kennemerland nature park. Ideal for rest and relaxation. You can wander through the dunes, stroll along the high tide line, or gaze out in front of you on the terrace or on a dune top. There is nothing better than falling asleep with a book on your lap in a dune pan, or nodding in front of the wood stove.
Nature has a lot of interesting things to offer for those who pay attention and you forget all your worries. However, for those looking for more entertainment, there are many options at hand:
On the beach there are various options for water sports and beach fun (including sailing, sea fishing, (kite) surfing, blow-karting). There is an activity beach and a modest nudist beach. You can walk extensively along the sea (for example to the terrace of Parnassia, to Bloemendaal or Zandvoort), or in the vast dune area (for example to the Wed for a picnic and a swim).
The cozy beach pavilion Beach inn, which is open every day all year round, is a 5-minute walk away. Here you can eat fresh fish and on Sunday afternoon there is live music. You can also book various sports activities here.
For fresh fish you can also go to the fish auction in IJmuiden.
In the vicinity are a marina, several golf courses and riding stables. Various estates, the harbour, Fort Island and the new, largest sea lock in the world can be visited. In the dunes around the house are many bunkers of the German defense line (Atlantic Wall) and in the area there are several museums to visit.
There are daily crossings to Newcastle by ferry.
Indoor shopping center Zeewijkpassage (2.5 km) is a 7-minute drive or a 30-minute walk from the house. You can reach Amsterdam (30 km) in half an hour by car. Haarlem (12km), Bloemendaal (10km) and Zandvoort (13km) are nearby.
The house is not easily accessible by public transport. The nearest bus stop is a 1.6 km walk. A car is strongly recommended. Parking is free on site.
